ALBANY, NY (Wednesday, August 15, 2012) — Eastwyck Village, one of the Capital Region’s newest retirement communities, will host the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center (JCC) Senior Chorale Thursday, August 16 at 1 p.m. in the facility’s Great Room at 1720 Best Road, North Greenbush.

Directed by Carol McGowan, the Senior Chorale is made up of 40 seniors who both sing and play the piano. The performance is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Call 518-874-1638 for reservations.

“We are happy to host this group of active seniors,” said Eastwyck Village’s Retirement Counselor Amy VanderPloeg, noting that Eastwyck places an emphasis on similar activities to keep its residents engaged. “The key to aging well is living well and the Senior Chorale demonstrates that.”

The Senior Chorale schedules performances throughout the community on Thursday afternoons and represents one outreach component of the Sidney Albert Albany JCC. Serving all ages in the Capital Region, the Sidney Albert Albany JCC implements programs related to education, physical fitness and communal life, and welcomes members of the community at large, regardless of faith or background.

Eastwyck Village, which opened in 2011, offers adult independent retirement living and implements a “Senior Engaged Life Program” to keep residents mentally and socially active. Residents have the opportunity to enjoy everything from regular speakers and outings to Pilates and cooking classes. The community is centrally located near shopping centers, tourist attractions and historic sites.

Eastwyck Village is an elegant, 144-unit senior retirement community for seniors 62 and older. Minutes from Albany, Troy and East Greenbush, the facility offers a relaxed, independent and maintenance-free lifestyle for its residents with plenty of time to participate in the activities they enjoy.
